Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

St. Mary's Neurology provides Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) to patients.

DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) is a technological therapy for patients with Parkinson's syndrome to aid the pharmacological options for certain disabling motor symptoms, and also for patients with Essential Tremor. Our office is able to adjust and manage the device once it has been implanted by a surgeon.  For patients who are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and Essential Tremor, Dr. Kavilaveettil will assess and determine whether the patient is a candidate for DBS. If a patient is determined to be a candidate, she will then refer him/her to the appropriate surgeon after the required multidisciplinary pre-surgical evaluations.
